B. Print Portfolio Piece # 6: Evaluating an Opening Paragraph, a Body Paragraph, and a Concluding Paragraph

Homework

Print Piece # 7:

Please choose one of the four CAT-W readings I have handed out to you and write a response to them. The response should be typed. Do not forget to add a header.

Your response should be an essay containing the following:

  • A short summary of the passage.
  •  A claim or thesis responding to a significant idea in the passage.
  •  At least 2 body paragraphs (hopefully three) with relevant reasons and concrete evidence from your own life experience or ideas you have read/learned in class.
  • In each body paragraph, refer back to the passage (perhaps by quoting) and connecting your own thoughts to the passage you have referred to.
  •  A conclusion that does something else than summarize.

Remember that first impressions matter, so make the beginning of your essay strong and as error-free as possible. Plan you essay so your strongest reasons and examples are early on.

This will be Print Piece # 7 and it is due on Monday, October 19.
