Artifact 1

I find genetically-engineered food very disturbing, as we actually do not know what effect its long-term consumption may have.

According to the Wikipedia article for genetically-modified foods (GMF), GMFs began to be marketed in the United States in the early 1990s. They include soybean, corn, and canola, which are the basis for several other popular types of food. Corn, for example, is the main element in high-fructose corn syrup, which is used in many, many, many processed foods such as bread, cereal, lunch meats, yogurt, soup, etc, as well as in most soda drinks.

I was watching the documentary The Future of Food this past week, and at one point the narrator mentioned that the Japanese have rejected genetically-modified food and are "observing the children of America closely" to see what effects eating this food will have on them. SCA-RY.
